A MONTH OF SUNDAYS [a month of Sundays]
DEFINITION
Taking the idiom “a month of Sundays” at its most literal sense, it describes a period of time that is longer than a month. For example, most months have 30 or 31 days in them, and during those months Sundays come along every seven days.
Origin of: Month of Sundays. Month of Sundays. Signifies an indeterminate length of time, approximately seven and a half months actually but the expression is never used literally. It dates from the mid-18th century and has remained a popular expression since but it is not known who coined it.
Sunday is the day of the week between Saturday and Monday. For some Christians, Sunday is observed as a day for worship of God and rest, due to the belief that it is Lord's Day, the day of Christ's resurrection. Sunday is a day of rest in most Western countries, part of 'the weekend'.
Palm Sunday is the sixth and last Sunday of Lent and the beginning of Holy Week. The date for Palm Sunday 2014 is 13 April. Holy Week is the week before Easter, commemorating events in the last days of Jesus' life on Earth. It begins on Palm Sunday and ends on Easter Monday.
